Official Duties
The Clerk of District Court is responsible for maintaining and preserving the records of all cases filed in this Court. The duties include processing of cases and court ordered payments, administration of appeals from this Court to the Supreme Court as well as accepting lower court and administrative office decisions on appeal to this Court, maintaining a juror list, and the preparation for and monitoring of all jury trials.
Case Types Filed in District Court
Our cases consist of Civil (divorces and modifications, name changes, adoptions, paternity and child support enforcement, etc.); contract disputes, personal injury, torts, judgments, etc. with a monetary amount exceeding $7,000; Criminal Felony Cases; Probate matters such as estates, conservator and guardianships; and Juvenile Records that by State Law are confidential. This Office cannot disclose that a juvenile case exists or provide anyone with information regarding these cases.
We receive, receipt and distribute child support payments to Custodial Parents and provide information regarding those payments. The State Disbursement Unit (SDU) also processes payments for Sweetwater County. If you receive payments from the SDU (a State of Wyoming check) and have payment inquires, you need to call 1-888-570-9914.
We also collect non-child support payments such as Civil Garnishments, Criminal Fines, Fees and Restitution as well as Criminal and Civil Bonds including Child Support Bonds.
