BASIC VETERANS’ INFORMATION |
General periods of qualification are show on the adjoining chart, in addition to being a resident of Wyoming for the preceding three years. Individuals eligibility must be determined by the Assessor’s Office. |
The exemption is usable in two different ways: |
1) You may use it on your county property tax. This reduces your assessed valuation by up to 3000 (about $210 tax dollars each year). You must notify the office after January 1st and before the 4th Monday of May each year. |
2) You may use the exemption on your vehicle license plates. This method reduced the County portion of the fee up to $90 and may be used on more than one vehicle if the total does not exceed $90. Contact the Assessor’s office before getting your license plates. |
In all cases the property or vehicles must be deeded
or title in your and/or your spouse’s names.
If a veteran is deceased the exemption may continue
for the spouse if not remarried, if no other names are
included on the property or vehicles during the spouse’s
lifetime and the spouse continues to live in Wyoming. |
