SWEETWATER COUNTY CLERK

VEHICLE TITLES

A Wyoming Title is required to obtain a Wyoming vehicle
registration.  To obtain a Wyoming Title, the previous title or
Manufacturers Statement of Origin must be surrendered to the
County Clerk's office.  Depending on the circumstance,
additional forms such as a VIN (Vehicle Identifications
Number) inspection and/or a Damage Disclosure Statement
must also be presented.  A Non-Resident/Non-Transferable
(NR) Title may be obtained for individuals who are temporarily
working in the State.  To obtain a NR Title, an individual must
have a current registration from their home state and they will
not be required to surrender their current title.

Purchaser's Title Application

The Application is required when a person is obtaining a title.  The form needs to be completed and notarized.

Prior title that has been properly executed along with an Odometer Statement, Damage Disclosure Statement must accompany the Application.   If there is a lien against the vehicle, a legible and properly completed Security Agreement or Financing Statement must also accompany the Application.

Application for Duplicate Title

If you have lost a title that was properly filed in the Sweetwater County Clerk's Office, you can apply for a Duplicate Title.   If there is an open lien on our copy of the title, you will need to get a lien release.  If the lien has not been paid off then you need to obtain a letter from the lien holder advising us that they are aware that you are obtaining a Duplicate Title.

Application for Title and
VIN Inspection Form

The Application for Title and VIN Inspection Form is used when a title is going to be issued off of an out of state title.  The top part needs to be completed by the purchaser and the form needs to be notarized.  The bottom part needs to be completed by a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Wyoming.

Prior title that has been properly executed along with the Odometer Statement, Damage Disclosure Statement must accompany the Application.   If there is a lien against the vehicle, a legible and properly completed Security Agreement or Financing Statement must also accompany the Application.

Warranty and Notarization Statement

Warranty and Notarization Statements are generally attached to the yellow titles that Wyoming issued when the notary section was removed.  This form also can be used for additional signatures of owners.  For example if you needed to get an owner to sign the title off, you could mail the form to the owner instead of the actual title.

Odometer Statement

The Odometer Statement is used to disclose the mileage of a vehicle.  Federal law required that vehicles that aren't over ten years old must have the mileage disclosed.
