 Each
year in Sweetwater County local merchants lose thousands
of dollars to bad check activity. In turn, consumers
share in these losses through higher prices.
To combat this problem the Sweetwater County Attorney's
Office has created a program to track down bad check
writers and recover losses for their victims.
The County Attorney's Office Bad Check Restitution
Program forms a partnership between the Sweetwater
County Attorney's Office and the local business
community while removing some of the burden bad checks
place on local police. This approach to the bad check
problem provides additional resources to obtain
restitution, to protect the public and to seek justice
in these matters at no cost to bad check victims or
Sweetwater County taxpayers.
