Sam
A. Soule' is the former 3rd Judicial Circuit Court
Judge, who served Sweetwater County for twenty-five and
a half years, from July 2, 1981 to December 31, 2006. He
was appointed to the bench by then Governor Ed
Herschler.
From April, 1975 to June, 1981, he was a Senior
Assistant Attorney General and was second in command of
the Wyoming Attorney General's Office.
Before going to the A.G.'s office, he was a prosecutor
for a short period for Albany County, Wyoming, and
served as a bailiff on a major murder trial and
maintained a private practice in Laramie.
Sam is married to Debora Thaxton Soule'. They have two
daughters, one of whom graduated with honors from the
University of Wyoming. He is also the father of four
other children from his first marriage.
Sam served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963
and was stationed in West Germany when the Berlin Wall
was constructed. He was later stationed at Fort Benning,
Georgia, during the Cuban Missile Crisis era of American
/ Cuban relations.
Sam's hobbies include reading and now learning how to
ride a Honda 4 wheeler. He finally concluded that, at
age 71, he had gotten too old to ride and team rope.
