Wyoming native, Terry Rogers was born in Lovell,
Wyoming, where he graduated from Natrona County High
School.
After spending one year at the University of Wyoming,
Terry received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy,
Annapolis, Maryland. Following his graduation he was
commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and spent
four years of sea duty on two ships.
Terry resigned his Navy commission and entered Law
School at the University of Wyoming, where he obtained
his law degree in 1970. Following his graduation he
moved to Jackson, Wyoming, where he opened a law office
and began the practice of law.
He was appointed as the Town Attorney for the Town of
Jackson and served in that capacity on a part-time basis
for four and one-half years. He was then elected for the
first of four terms as the Teton County and Prosecuting
Attorney in 1974, which was a part-time job until 1983,
when it became full time.
Terry was appointed by Governor Sullivan to serve as a
District Judge for the Ninth Judicial District in 1989.
After serving 14 years in that position Terry retired in
2003 and returned to the practice of law.
Terry was appointed as the Deputy State Public Defender
in March, 2005 and served in that capacity for two
years, the last six months of which he was the Interim
Public Defender following the untimely death of Ken
Koski.
Terry began his service as a Deputy Prosecuting
Attorney, in the Criminal Division, in Sweetwater County
in March, 2007.
Terry and his wife Gloria are the parents of six
children and have five grandchildren. Terry's interests
include woodworking, photography, sports officiating and
hiking.
