Veterans Property Tax Exemption
Program Overview
Administered by the County Assessor's Office and County Treasurer's Office, the Veterans Property Tax Exemption Program aids qualified veterans by reducing property taxes on principle residences or motor vehicles.
  • You must currently be a resident of Wyoming and have been a resident for the past three years.
  • You must provide us with a copy of your or your spouse’s DD214 (discharge papers).

You receive a yearly deduction of $3,000 assessed value from your vehicle or real estate. This comes out to be $90 on vehicle licensing and around $175-$200 on real estate depending on your tax district up to the mill levy and value of property.

You must sign the card each time you use it for license plates. Also, in December of every year, a Veterans Exemption Letter is mailed; this letter must be returned before the 4th Monday in May.
